Start course

A foundational course in reading Scripture carefully — in context, as one story, with Christ at the center, leading to faithful response.

Module 1

Why Interpretation Matters

Everybody interprets Scripture. Faithful interpretation requires awareness of our assumptions, attention to context, and a willingness to let Scripture challenge us rather than using Scripture to confirm what we already believe.

  1. Lesson 1Everybody Interprets
  2. Lesson 2What Happens When Context Is Ignored
  3. Lesson 3Reading Scripture Without Making Ourselves the Center

Module 2

Context Before Application

Faithful interpretation begins by asking what a passage communicated in its original setting before asking what it means for us today.

  1. Lesson 1Author, Audience, and Occasion
  2. Lesson 2Literary Context: What Comes Before and After
  3. Lesson 3From Meaning to Application

Module 3

The Bible as One Story

The Bible is a collection of many books written across centuries, yet it tells one unfolding redemptive story.

  1. Lesson 1Creation, Fall, and the First Promise
  2. Lesson 2Covenant, Kingdom, Exile, and Hope
  3. Lesson 3Why the Bible Is More Than 66 Separate Books

Module 4

Christ at the Center

Christ stands at the climactic center of the biblical redemptive story. Faithful Christocentric interpretation traces legitimate canonical relationships rather than forcing Jesus into every detail.

  1. Lesson 1Jesus and the Scriptures
  2. Lesson 2Promise, Pattern, Type, and Fulfillment
  3. Lesson 3How to Find Christ Without Forcing Christ Into Every Verse

Module 5

Handling Different Biblical Genres

All Scripture is inspired, but not all Scripture communicates in the same literary form. Genre is part of context.

  1. Lesson 1Narrative, Law, and Wisdom
  2. Lesson 2Prophecy, Poetry, and Apocalyptic
  3. Lesson 3Gospels, Epistles, and Doctrine

Module 6

From Exegesis to Teaching

Faithful Bible teaching moves from observation to interpretation, from interpretation into the biblical storyline, from that storyline to Christ, and from Christ to faithful response.

  1. Lesson 1Observation: What Does the Text Say?
  2. Lesson 2Interpretation: What Does the Text Mean?
  3. Lesson 3Christ-Centered Application: What Must We Believe and Do?
