Key terms / word study

Spirit / pneuma
Spirit, breath, wind; in Acts, the Holy Spirit empowers and forms the new covenant people.

Christ at the center

Pentecost is not a Spirit story detached from Jesus; the risen and exalted Christ is the One who pours out the Spirit.

Reflect

  1. How does Pentecost fulfill the prophets?
  2. Why is language diversity not erased?
  3. What does Spirit-filled community look like in Acts 2?

Practice

Place Joel 2, Ezekiel 36, Luke 24, Acts 1, and Acts 2 in sequence and explain what each contributes to Pentecost.

Remember

The risen King pours out the Spirit for covenant life and mission.
